At Girls Inc. of the Island City, girls develop the positive relationships, skills, and confidence they need to achieve their potential and succeed. Our alumnae go on to become savvy professionals, thoughtful leaders, and caring community advocates. When you donate to Fund A Girl, you provide over 600 girls annually with transformative experiences that enable them to grow up healthy (strong), educated (smart), and independent (bold).

Empower girls with social-emotional skills critical to personal development and academic success. Utilizing an array of proven strategies such as goal setting, trust and relationship-building, reflection and sharing, GEMS workshops empower girls to successfully navigate trauma, stress management, self-care, anti-bullying, teamwork, self-control, and self-awareness.

Give girls the opportunity to practice reading while helping to socialize adoptable pets at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS) through this innovative literacy program.

The abrupt move from in-person to remote learning has resulted in pandemic learning loss. Your gift will sponsor academically rich and engaging holistic programs taught by professional educators to recover this loss and keep our girls on track for success.

Sponsor a teen girl for an intensive summer program in Eureka! STEM Teen Achievement

Eureka! is an intensive five-year program for teen girls that develops career interests and opportunities in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). The curriculum involves hands-on learning, field trips, job shadows, networking, college and career-readiness, mentorships, vocational education, and professional skills training.

Connect a girl with an invaluable internship with one-on-one mentors plus hands-on, real-world experience in a broad range of careers including law, medicine, maritime, engineering, accounting, architecture, technology, fashion, art, marketing and sales, and academics.

Underwrite desperately-needed PPE Supplies

Help keep our girls safe by sponsoring CDC-certified masks, shields, gloves, hand-sanitizers, hand-washing stations, cleaning solutions, thermometers and other materials/equipment mandated by COVID-19 safety protocols. We are eager to welcome our girls back in-person and desperately need your help to keep them safe.
